As the number and use of cell phones and other mobile wireless devices increase, so too do the backhaul communications “pipes” from tower base stations to the telco and the network core. These now tend to no longer be copper cables, but high capacity fiber optic lines. However, much of the legacy equipment still expects to communicate using copper-centric technologies such as T-1 and E-1TDM (Time-Division Multiplex). | ||
