3G is part of a family of standards for mobile telecommunications developed by the International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT). The standard is also known as IMT-2000 or 3rd generation. 4G or Forth Generation networks are expected to be ready for by around 2012 although the term has already been used in some places as a marketing buzzword.
