IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) is an IP version “designed to succeed Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4)”, says the Wikipedia. “IPv4 is the first publicly used Internet Protocol and has been in operation since 1981″, it says, going on it’s an “Internet Layer protocol for packet-switched internetworking and provides end-to-end datagram transmission across multiple IP networks.
